Prior to embarking on his real estate career, Scott practiced law for over thirty (30) years, serving as Chief Legal Officer for several multinational corporations engaged in such industries as environmental services, facilities services, high tech data communications, and medical devices. He particularly enjoyed working in the Legal Departments of corporations because of his background in business, as well as law.
Scott's acumen with real estate developed at an early age, and he has personally bought and sold properties in several states in the U.S. and also in South America. Growing up in South Georgia with close proximity to Amelia Island and Fernandina Beach, Scott's family started coming to the island in the 1970"s, and were one of the first to buy a condominium townhouse at Amelia Island Plantation. His love of Amelia Island started when he and his family took a four-wheel drive vehicle to view the "Sunken Forest" of the coastal dunes formation at the Plantation where they noted firsthand the careful measures the developer was taking to preserve maritime forests, dunes and other ecosystems. During one summer of his undergraduate studies, Scott was a beach lifeguard at the Plantation Beach Club- tough duty, but someone had to do it!
As a full-time resident of Fernandina Beach, some of Scott's favorite activities include swimming, running, biking, horseback riding and stand-up paddleboard. He is also an artist and enjoys painting, sculpting, and design. He volunteers his time to render pro bono legal services, and with animal rights and services, as well as historic preservation. Scott's attention to detail and responsiveness is excellent, having honed those skills through years in the business community.
